emotional story
Martin Di Nenno was born 24 years ago in Ezeiza, Argentina. Today, he currently ranks third in the world cricket tour rankings…but behind his current success, there is an emotional story of struggle and tenacity.
“El turquito” started to stand out in padel when he was very young. In 2015, with the help of Franco Stupaczuk as a partner, they began to climb the rankings until they became one of the most promising couples in padel, known as “Los super pibes” (super kids)
But in 2016, everything changed for Dinino. In a car accident that killed two of Martin’s friends, he fractured his right femur and shattered his left kneecap. He was sidelined for the entire season and began a lengthy recovery process. He said that at the time his only goal was to play padel again… He never imagined what would happen next.
After great determination and sacrifice, Martin returned to the track in 2017 with Lucas Campagnolo as his partner; in 2018 he joined Juan Restivo Together, they achieved their best result – a tournament run to the round of 16.
In 2019, partnering with Javi Garrido, he started to emerge and achieved good results, including reaching the semi-finals of the Alicante Open.
His battle-tested character, the quality of his game and the way he fights with every ball, saw him paired with Agustín Gomez-Siringo in the first half of 2020 and then with former world number one Marc Si Sanchez partner. He reached the semi-finals four times that year and finished 2020 among the top 8 pairings.
Paquito and Tuquito
In 2021, “El turquito” received a call from Spanish player Paquito Navarro to join him “to his right” during the WPT season. From that moment on, everything changed for Martin…the couple worked so well together. The character and strength of the two players allowed the duo to finish the 2021 season at No. 2, even competing with Juan LeBlanc and Ale Garland for No. 1.
Paquito and Dinino reached 10 finals and won 3 titles: first the Barcelona Masters, then the Cordoba Open, which he won in his native Argentina, Buenos Aires The year ended with the crowned champion.
While the Barcelona title was the expected victory, it was very emotional for Martin, Paquito and all the cricket fans who followed Martin’s story closely. Considering all the hard work he has put in, this is a well-deserved gift and prize. His dream has come true.
There is no doubt that Martin’s character, quality and drive will make him one of the greatest figures in padel history.
Thank you for this life lesson.
