The Italian Padel Super Championship kicked off amid challenging weather conditions, with medical teams on high alert to provide immediate assistance in the event of a heat-related emergency.
This Monday marks the start of one of the most anticipated events of the season, the Italian Major of the Padel Circuit. However, weather conditions once again played a major role in influencing the course of the outdoor championships.
This time, soaring temperatures in the Italian capital forced race organizers to revise the schedule and activate “extreme temperature” protocols. As a result, the order of matches held in Piazza Italia in Rome was adjusted.
Games have been moved up to 9:00am to allow players to play early in the morning when the heat is less harsh. After a break around 1:00pm, afternoon play will resume at 4:00pm on all courts. The measure is aimed at protecting the health of players and mitigating potential risks associated with high temperatures.
The challenge goes beyond athletic competition to include the ability to withstand high temperatures. Weather forecasts suggest extreme weather will continue for a week, with temperatures possibly reaching 40C.
