Center Manager for Lockleaze Roxy Keshavarz Was Rated 125the th No. 1 in the squash world. It’s really a big name and that’s why she’s so popular on the padels.
But you don’t need to have the rating of a former squash or tennis world champion to be a good padel player – although it obviously helps! No, according to Roxy, the secret to a good padel game is learning to relax and enjoy it. The rest will come in time.
“You definitely don’t need a background in racquet sports, or sports at all, to play padel well,” she says. “It’s a really fun game – even if you’re not the greatest player, you’ll still enjoy it.
“Indeed, the best way to learn to play padel is to take our ‘Introduction to Padel’ course, where you learn the basic rules. You can then improve as you keep playing and meet new people, whether As a partner or as an adversary.”
Roxy himself only started playing padel in March last year. She started to get in touch with this game in 2021. It took her a year to get to the padel court. After the first treatment, she never looked back.
“Padel is incredible and very addictive,” she says. “You don’t have to be very technical to play. A background in racquet sports is absolutely not necessary.
“I love that the sport brings tennis and squash players together. If I hadn’t picked up a padel racket, I would never have met half the tennis players when I went back to Birmingham Squash Club.”
When not playing padel, Roxy enjoys playing squash. But other sports will also receive attention. In fact, most sports do this.
“There wasn’t a single sport I didn’t play in school,” she laughs. “I love all sports and have played against anyone I know.”
Not only does she enjoy playing a variety of different sports; she enjoys playing a variety of sports. Roxy also enjoys watching live sports. If she doesn’t watch sports, she goes to the cinema to watch a movie.
She also enjoys reading in her spare time—especially factual, self-improvement books. For example, her three favorite books are The Chimpanzee Paradox by Professor Steve Peters, Bounce by Matthew Syed and Blink by Malcolm Gladwell.
